This is a very interesting interview of
Tom Ford on CNN.
"Ford received hate mail from his ”predecessor and rival Yves Saint-Laurent when Ford took Yves Saint-Laurent’s eponymous fashion house in 1999 when parts of it were sold to the Gucci group, where Ford was creative director.”
Ford went on to say that at first the two were on amicable terms and Laurent was supportive, but that soon changed with the success Ford produced for the fashion house. Ford told CNN, “I have letters that he wrote to me about it, you know: ‘In 13 minutes on the runway you have destroyed 40 years of my career’…I am really happy I have them — they are written in his own hand. When I’m 85, maybe I’ll put them in a book — if anyone cares.”
